The Internship Saga Continues...

Hi, Everybody!

So, much like y’all would expect me to say (at least for another three months), it certainly was an interesting start to Week Three of my internship at Carter Elementary.

Mrs. Martin had a fun assignment for the class today; she went around the room and asked the little ones what they wanted to be when they grew up. I gotta admit—I kinda got a little giddy when she asked that question, and that’s because she asked me that same question when I was a wee little one… hahaha! Before I knew it, I started jumping up and down like I was five years old again, and then I cut off my excitement and sat back down… LOL!

In any event, the kiddies had some very interesting answers. Of course, there were the usual responses like doctor, teacher, and police officer, and then there were some responses that I didn’t expect—lawyer, judge, singer, and chef.

And then there was this one little girl named Alice, who I believe has walked this earth once upon a time—when it was her turn, she stood right up and boldly declared: “I wanna be like my mommy when I grow up. She takes care of me, my brother, and my daddy, and she’s her own boss at her job. She’s got it goin’ on!”

Before I could catch myself, I shouted, “Go ‘head on, Girl!”

And just when I thought that I had heard it all, along comes this one fella named Max… and there was no shame in Max’s game, either! He had an answer that made me and Mrs. Martin look at each other and almost holla. Max stood up and said, “I want money, lots and lots of money—I wanna be rich!”

Mrs. Martin chuckled a bit, but she was able to keep a straight face… I on the other hand wasn’t so fortunate. Matter of fact, I looked at Max and said, “I hear you, Buddy—I wanna be rich, too. I tell you what: We can both help each other out with that goal.”

Would y’all believe that Max smiled, winked at me, and said, “It’s a deal, Miss Natasha!”

I tell y’all—these little ones continue to prove Mr. Linkletter’s point in saying just the darnedest things!

Now, check this out, y’all: After the school day ended, Mrs. Martin said that I showed the mark of a true teacher by encouraging Max’s answer. I responded by saying: “Well, Mrs. Martin, when I heard Max’s answer, it reminded me of when I was in your class, and I told you that I wanted to be like every woman in my family, from my Gramma Jewel to my mommy, and you smiled and said to me, ‘Go for it, Dearie—you can achieve that very dream if you hold on and keep the faith!’”

Mrs. Martin smiled at me and said, “Yessiree, Bob—I know within my whole heart that you will make a darn good kindergarten teacher. I tell you what: Tomorrow’s class assignment will be a ‘dream theme,’ and I want you to teach the class tomorrow. As a matter of fact, I want you to spearhead the entire assignment.”

I simply looked at Mrs. Martin, shook her hand, and declared: “I accept that challenge!”

So, with that said, let me close up this evening’s blog post and do some brainstorming. I’ll holla at y’all tomorrow.

Rust College... I'M HERE!!!

Hi, Everybody!

I tell y’all—this Bray Wyatt character from WWE is really an intriguing individual. I loved how he lights up his lantern and then he whispers the name of the city, and after announcing his arrival, he blows out the lantern. The thing that I find weird is that he relights the lantern just to head out to the ring, and yet, for some reason, it still works!
And yes, I guess you can say that Mr. Wyatt’s catchphrase helped inspire the title of today’s blog post. It certainly goes without saying, but I’m back up here at Rust after having one helluva spectacular summer vacation... and while I’m on the subject of my summer vacation, I just want to take this time out and express my love to my family for creating such a grandtastical family reunion. We truly had us some fun lo these past couple weeks. I reckon I’m gonna have to make a commemorative booklet or something, just to immortalize all the fun that we had.
Oh, and I wanna state for the record that Gramma Jewel’s childhood friend Ms. Millie is as cool as the other side of a pillow. I’m actually gonna have to interview her for a future blog post—that lady is so cool. I need to also mention that Uncle Ronnie had a childhood crush on Ms. Millie, and… well, some things just never change—Uncle Ronnie still has a touch of a crush on Ms. Millie!
But anyway, back to the lecture at hand: I am back up here at Rust College, and I am ready to start my junior year. Ruby and I actually moved in over the weekend… and I need to quickly mention that my mom and dad have finally met Mr. & Mrs. Hudspeth, and all four of ‘em instantly got on a first name basis. Y’all kow what this means, don’tcha—Ruby and I are officially sisters for life!
As far as my classes go, I’ve taken a look at my schedule, and I see that I’ve got some classes that I already know ain’t gonna be no cakewalk… and the improper grammar is highly merited in this case. Just in the first module alone, I’m taking Diagnosis and Treatment of Reading Disabilities, Early Literature Instructions Part II, and Measurement & Evaluation. Now, mind you: I said that these three courses are only for the first module, but I forgot to mention that class starts this Wednesday. I get a feeling that y’all ain’t gonna be hearing from me as much as before. As challenging as that may sound, I’m taking for the second module: Human Growth Development and Diversity, Literature in the Schools, and Praxis Seminar II.
Y’all, it ain’t lookin’ good—I’m requesting y’alls prayers immediately.
Well, I reckon it’s time to close up this blog post, but I’m serious—keep your girl lifted up in prayer, because these classes sound like they’re gonna need my undivided attention.

Lotsa Love,
Natasha

Neo Theo Is Back And Better Than Ever!

Hi, Everyone!

As you can tell by the title, Neo Theo is back to normal, and better than ever!

Allow me to explain what I mean:

Yesterday evening, Ruby and I were chillin’ in the cafeteria, and Theo walked in, all chipper and overexcited—even for him! Naturally, Ruby and I asked Theo to give us the motivation behind his extra burst of energy, and Theo simply caught a hold of us both and hugged us real tight. And then, with a great big Cheshire Cat grin (for which he is legendarily known), he says to us: “Just in case I hadn’t said it before, you two are the sweetest girls that I’ve ever come to know. I want to thank you all for not only understanding my situation, but also for havin’ my back.”

Well, Ruby and I informed Theo that he need not thank us on account of we would always be there for him… and our words couldn’t have come any sooner! Almost like clockwork, as we all were leaving the cafeteria, that tramp Olivia was approaching the entrance.

At first, Theo got a little nervous, but then he took a deep breath and made a promise that he would not give Olivia the satisfaction of renting space in his brain. He boldly held the door open for her to walk in, but for some reason she couldn’t enter, and that’s mainly because Ruby and I were blocking the entranceway. Theo chuckled a bit, then he told me and Ruby that she’s not worth it.

Ruby and I thought about it, and then we decided that Theo had a point. Now, whereas I can’t speak for Ruby, I can tell you that I was not about to sully my hands on some worthless scum like Olivia, so I stepped out of the way.

And then, just as Olivia was about to walk through the door, Theo caught a hold of her and thanked her for being the individual that she is. Upon hearing those comments, Olivia turned away… and she hauled some serious ass in the process! I mean, seriously—she zipped right past me and Ruby.

Gee, I wonder why she would be intimidated by the two of us-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s? Hahahaha!

Well, y’all, that’s the latest excitement up here for now. Time for me to close up this blog post and call it a day; besides, it’s time for my Intro to Social Sciences class. I’ll holla at y’all tomorrow, though.

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha

So Glad It's Friday, Y'all!

Happy Friday, Everybody!

In the famous words of my Auntie Cherri: “Friday just couldn’t get here no quicker, could it?”

After a week of convoluted craziness—not to mention the fact that everything is happening so fast—I have truly earned this weekend. I was ready for this weekend on last weekend, if that makes any sense… hahaha! Lemme tell y’all: I just had my last class (Intro to Social Sciences), and much like that ol’ skool song, this class has got me goin’ in circles. Seriously, y’all—what’s a sista to do? My mind is already in a whirlpool! I just need a little hope, or just one small thing to cling to.

Oh, great—now the damn song is stuck in my head. I’m gonna have to go on YouTube and listen to the link.

Okay, I’ll level with y’all: Into to Social Sciences is not that bad, but it’s no cakewalk, either. I think I mentioned in yesterday’s blog that I always seem to have one class per module that gives me a run for my money. I’ve also noticed a pattern—those aforementioned difficult classes almost always seem to involve math and science. Last module, when I was taking that PRAX I Seminar class, it revealed that I’m stronger in English, Art, and Public Speaking than I am in math and science. Thank God that I know basic arithmetic, though—and then again, there may come a time in the not-too-distant future where my kindergarteners are gonna learn algebraic equations and stuff.

May The Good Lord Up Above have mercy on my soul if I have to teach algebra to a five-year-old… but then again, stranger things have happened, though I don’t know when.

Well, I guess I had better close this blog post and start to enjoy my weekend—Ruby is going home for the weekend, and Theo’s roommate invited him to dinner at his mom’s house, so I’m gonna be all by myself. I probably need a little break from my peeps anyway; after all, it is proven that absence makes the heart grow fonder. I really don’t know what I’m gonna do this weekend, but I know that I will enjoy it, whatever it is.

Until next time…

Smooches,
Natasha

Can My Success Be Matched?

Hi, Everyone!

I feel like quoting the Mamas and the Papas:
Monday, Monday—sounds good to me…

So, I just got my research paper back from my Grammar & Comp II class, and just like I predicted, I received an A+!

Forgive me if this sounds cocky, but I knew all along that I was gonna get an A+. In the famous words of my Grampa Clark, I didn’t half-ass the assignment—I used my full ass. It would’ve been different if I waited until the last minute and tried to put some baloney together on the fly, but that has never been my style. And then too, when it came down to it, I used actual research on why Los Angeles is a great place to live and visit. Not only did I use my research, but I also used my experience as a native Los Angeleno.

And check out what my professor wrote on my cover page:

“Natasha, this is exceptionally, outstandingly excellent work—you are to be commended! I enjoyed your research paper so much that I almost called Southwest Airlines and booked a flight for Los Angeles. Your research was topnotch and the photos of your family and friends sealed the deal for me. Who better to tell me all about L.A. except an actual L.A. native? Keep up the good work, Natasha—this is your best work yet, and I am looking forward to the next paper!”

I only have two words to say: HOT DAMN, Y’ALL!!!

I’m glad that my professor enjoyed my paper so much, but now comes the question: Can I top this? Is it possible to go above and beyond the standards that I personally set for myself? I mean, let’s be real: In wrestling, the most prestigious title is the World Heavyweight Championship Belt; after that, there are no higher title. As far as I know, I can’t get any higher than an A+, but I can damn sure work for another one.

Having said that, here is my next paper: I have to write about an inspirational figure in my life, whether they are a family member or a celebrity. Much like my last paper it must be five pages, double-spaced, 12-font, and it must have a reference page. I have five people already in mind, but I’m gonna give you my choice in tomorrow’s blog.

Oh, and check this out: Notwithstanding my Grammar & Comp II paper and my upcoming speech assignment this Friday, I have a midterm in my Physical Science class. I tell y’all—Rust is really crankin’ it on a sista. They wanna see if this Cali girl really has the heart, soul, passion and desire that she says she has. Well, let me be the one to tell you: I can back it up in more ways than one, Baby! You’re looking at Natasha Renee Stewart—Ben & Dani’s baby girl, Vivian Jones’ youngest granddaughter, Alex & Cheryl’s niece… and yes, I’m even known as the Hollywood Vipress. I think I made mention of it before, but it looks like I gotta declare one mo’ ginn that I can and I will in fact go the distance—just you watch me!

But I digress.

In any event, this Physical Science midterm is focused on everything that we’ve gone over since class started a little over three weeks ago. I haven’t told y’all, but I’ve taken at least two hours each day to study for this dang-blasted midterm… oh, and did I mention that the midterm is Wednesday?

Calling all Prayer Warriors! Calling all my Prayer Warriors!

Until tomorrow, y’all take care!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
