Return to Bearcat Country!

Hi, Everyone!

Well, it looks like I had time to post a blog after all!

As you can probably guess, I am back in Bearcat Country. It certainly was a bittersweet plane ride, and it was also quite lonely. Mom and Dad didn’t go with me this time; they just saw me to the gate, gave me a big hug and a kiss, and then bid me farewell. I guess they’re teaching me to be more independent. I appreciate that, but I really wish that they had come with me.

Anyway, I arrived in Memphis at 7:30am CST, where I easily located my luggage. Just as I stepped outside, Gramma Jewel’s college roommate and my honorary auntie, Gladys Nelson, had just pulled up—talk about perfect timing! She dropped me off at Rust, and I was sure to give her thirty dollars for gas money. In turn, she gave me a kiss on the cheek, and grocery bag filled with all kinds of food.

Seeing as how I was a woman on a mission, I left my bags in my dorm and headed to the auditorium to get registered for the second semester. While I awaited my turn in line, someone covered my eyes and said, “Look out, now—it’s the return of the California Vipress!”

I recognized that it could only be my homey Neo Theo, so I turned around and gave him a big hug… and standing right behind him was none other than my girl Miss Ruby Jean from Olive Branch, Baby!

It really didn’t seem like we waited in line real long, probably because we passed the time by talking about our respective Christmas vacations. And like I predicted, Ruby asked about my “hometown boyfriend.” I played it off like it was nothing, but I did promise to give her the details later on. Theo simply rolled his eyes and said, “Aw, hell—more damn girl talk!”

Needless to say, I am all set and registered for the second semester of my freshman year at Rust College. Check out these classes that I have for the third module: Geometry & Trigonometry and African Diaspora II. I have but one question: Where my prayer warriors at? I need y’all to send some up some prayers, like last week!

Well, y’all, I had best get going—I’ve got to get unpacked, then I gotta call Mom & Dad and let them know that I’ve arrived safely, and later on Ruby and I are gonna catch up with Theo.

Until tomorrow, this is Vipress signing off… hahahaha!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
