I just received the sweetest letter from Ray Hernandez, my high school prom date. Just listen to this:
Dear Natasha:
I hope this letter finds you well, and I pray that you don’t get too rusty at Rust College … hahahaha! Please forgive me for that corny joke. But seriously, I know you probably feel out of your element, but you will do just fine. Just remember to look up beyond the hills from whence cometh your help (Psalm 121).
As you know, I got accepted at Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Northridge, but I chose the former over the latter. As it turned out, it was a good decision on my part because I’m only about a half hour away from my parents’ house. Plus, my mom and dad could easily afford the tuition, so it’s all good.
Natasha, there is an added incentive behind this letter. The truth is, I really like you. I have had a crush on you ever since our freshman year at LaBon. I wanted to tell you, but I got scared, and plus I didn’t want to make you feel awkward. You’re just the type of lady that I’m looking for—you’re smart, friendly, and very pretty. You’ve probably been scooped up by some dude already, and if that’s the case, then so be it. But as long as you know how I feel about you, that’s a victory in and of itself. And I want to thank you again for being my prom date; it really meant a lot to me.
Well, I shall talk to you later, but until then, take care, study hard, and don’t ever change, Natasha—stay the same sweet lady that you are. God Bless.
Sincerely,
Ray
Wow, I didn’t know Ray felt that way about me. I’m gonna write him back this weekend, for sure. My question is: What should I tell him?
Until next time, I’ll holla!
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
