Let The Countdown Begin, Y'all!

Hi, Everyone!

Well, here it is—Saturday, May 11, 2013. As I may have mentioned earlier this week, today is very special to me, because it was exactly one year ago today that I went to my prom with my handsome prince, Ray Hernandez. Now, I’m gonna try my damnedest not to make Ray the main focus of today’s blog, but when you consider the fact that I am looking forward to spending my summer vacation with family and friends, and Ray is a fellow Southern Cali native like I am, you just can’t separate the two. It’s like Gramma Jewel’s strawberry seven-up cake—it’s no good without the main ingredients.

Speaking of my upcoming and much anticipated return to my hometown, I am terribly excited and looking forward to stepping off that plane to enjoy some Los Angeles goodness! I’ve already started a countdown, y’all. I went on a website called timeanddate.com, and there is an option where you can create your own countdown. Well, I typed in “June 1, 2013 at 10:20 a.m.” (that’s when my plane arrives and lands at LAX), and all this information popped up. I tell y’all—this website is down to a science; it counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds… oh, it’s very thorough! Unfortunately, I didn’t add a screenshot in realtime, mainly because… well, this is realtime, and time is always ticking away, no matter what any of us do. So basically, that’s why I have a generic picture of a clock that has counted down to zero.

I’m also working on my itinerary for when I return. I already know that I’m gonna have a great summer vacation… and y’all should see the stuff that I wanna do. First of all, I haven’t forgotten about my home movie that I wanted to make when I first went home in December. It’s gonna feature my family and friends, and it’ll be like a documentary of sorts.

You know, if I had gotten around to making this home movie around this past Christmas like I had planned, it would’ve been perfect for my “Make Your Own Commercial” assignment in my Fundamentals of Speech class… but I digress.

Y’all, I am so excited because, in addition to headin’ home in a mere three weeks, I just thought about something else: June 1, 2013 is Mrs. D’s birthday! Before I leave Holly Springs, I’m gonna have to get her a birthday card and a birthday present.

Well, I had better go ahead and close today’s blog. Besides, I gotta call my girl Becky and see how she enjoyed her “prom” experience. Of course, I’m gonna want all of the details… and that’s not being nosy—that’s just being inquisitive.

Oh, and consider this a special PSA: Since tomorrow is Mother’s Day, I’m gonna post a very special blog and dedicate to my mother, Danielle Renee Stewart.
