My First Rust Homecoming

Hi Everyone—and Happy Tuesday!

I decided not to post a blog yesterday because Ruby challenged me over the weekend. She wanted to know if I could last one full day without sending a Monday blog. Well, today is November 13, 2012, so what does that tell you? And by the way, Ruby—you owe me five dollars!

So, I had a great Founders Day Weekend. Before I forget, I want to send my congratulations to the new Miss Rust 2012-13, and who knows? Maybe I’ll throw my hat into the ring before I graduate. But anyway, the rest of the Founders Day weekend was tremendous. There’s so much to tell that I cannot tell it all, but I had the surprise of my life when I ran into my Gramma Jewel’s college roommate and best friend, Ms. Gladys Williams. That lady is a trip and a half. We just happened to bump into each other, and she gave me a good long stare. Somehow she knew who I was, so she asked me: “What’s your grandmother’s excuse for not showin’ up this go-round?” I explained to Ms. Gladys that Gramma Jewel couldn’t come out due to financial reasons. Ms. Gladys looks at me and says: “Financial reasons, my ass—she was out here to visit her sister, so she damn sho’ coulda… and by the way, what’s your Great Aunt Reesie’s excuse?”

I had a lotta fun hangin’ out with Auntie Gladys this weekend… yeah, I had to adopt her. Hell, I might as well go ahead and make her an honorary family member—after all, she and Gramma Jewel have been best friends since 1953. She told me some funny stories about how she and Gramma Jewel were two of “the hottest foxes walkin’ around Bearcat Country,” and how they turned heads everywhere they went. In fact, according to Ms. Gladys, one guy was so smitten over Gramma Jewel that he tried to get her to marry him, but she flat-out told him, “Hell could freeze over today, and I still wouldn’t marry your ass!”

Gramma Jewel was cold, wasn’t she? Hahahaha!

Well, I could go on and on, but like I said, I just can’t tell it all.

Before I close today’s blog, I just want to say: Welcome back, Jerry “The King” Lawler. You were greatly missed, and I thank God that He allowed your golden moments to run on a little while longer.

Until next time, everyone!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
