This is a totally different blog today… but then again, since when have my blogs been the same? I’m just sayin’.
Anyway, today’s blog is different in that… I don’t know—I think I’m in love with Ray Hernandez. You see, the signs are all there: 1) He asked me to be his prom date; 2) He actually showed up when I invited him to my congratulatory college send-off back in August, and 3) He keeps in touch with me in the form of ol’ skool letters and cards.
Okay, maybe I’m not in love with him, per se, but I am—as my elders would say—smitten over him.
Now, my question is: Why in the hell did I have to tell Ruby? I mean, even though she’s shown herself to be a great roommate and an even better friend, she does have a tendency to tease me, especially when it comes to Ray. You see, Ruby tends to believe that I have a thing for him. She has it conjured up in her mind that I miss Ray and that I want him to be my boyfriend… and you know something: Ruby is absolutely right!
Y’all, please forgive a sister for her déjà vu moments (yet again), but I can’t hide from the truth—I do have a bit of a crush on Ray, and I do find it ironic that neither one of us had the chance to tell each other until after we started our respective college careers. Gramma Jewel always told me that fate was funny that way… and while I’ve brought up Gramma Jewel, I am reminded by what she told me most recently: Stay focused on my studies and don’t lose focus of why I’m at Rust.
But yet and still, that doesn’t stop my heart from beating for one Ray Hernandez.
Until next time, everyone…
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
