Well, here it is, Monday afternoon, October 1, 2012.
I’m really amazed at how the time has zipped by. I mean, it seemed like yesterday that I was leaving L.A. for Rust College. If this keeps up, I’ll be graduating in no time flat.
So, check this out: I talked to my Gramma Jewel a couple of days ago about my boyfriend trouble (or lack thereof). Gramma Jewel kept silent and listened quite intently as I explained my situation. I had already made up in my mind that I was not about to string along any guy, and that’s because I have too much respect to do that. I went on to tell Gramma Jewel about my feelings for Ray and the confusion that lies within me, all due to the two-hour time zone differential. I further explained that my fellow future Rustite alum Richard is great company, but I don’t have feelings for him like I do Ray. Oh, what is a gal to do?
And that’s when Gramma Jewel spoke her words of wisdom:
“Tasha, let Gramma tell you something, Baby,” she said with that all-too-familiar warm, loving voice. “First of all, you have reached that age where you’re startin’ to look mighty fine to these boys. You can’t help that—all the women in our family have been blessed with boom-bam-kapow, and you’re no exception. Having said that, you’re still young yet. Truthfully, there will be other guys tryin’ to fight for your affection, maybe even more so than Ray and this Rich-Dawg fella, and I can tell that you’re interested in Ray, but let me say this: If he’s really seriously interested in you, then he will be right there waitin’ for you. Now, worst case scenario is, he finds some other girl—don’t let it getcha down. Just remember that there are other fish in the sea. And you’ve got the right bait, but don’t get caught with the wrong damn fish. When the right fish comes along, you’ll know it because you will both feel it. In the meantime, keep focused on your studies and have fun.”
One thing I can say about Gramma Jewel: She knows exactly what she’s talking about. Thanks for your advice, Gramma Jewel! I’m not gonna worry about this matter any more than I have to.
Well, having said that, I’m gonna play the cards that I have in my hand, which is really all I can do.
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
