Reflecting on My Weekend in Nashville

Hi, Everyone—and Happy Saturday!

You know, I’m starting to make this a habit, am I?

Nonetheless, today’s special Saturday edition blog revolves around just last week. As you know, I really enjoyed visiting with Great Aunt Reesie, Cousin Jade, and Cousin Erica last weekend in Nashville… and let’s just say that Gramma’s Jewel’s visit was the icing on the cake and the cherry on top.

I already told you all about last Saturday’s baking contest, which really was no contest. Despite it being somewhat of a competition, you could tell that they were having so much fun because they were cracking jokes throughout the whole ordeal. It really was like an episode of MasterChef, except without the three judges. And I stand by what I said last week: Those three judges on MasterChef would have hell on their hands if they had to contend with Gramma Jewel and Great Aunt Reesie. I’m just sayin’.

And I’m sure that Gramma Jewel mentioned this on her Facebook page, but we shut down Ryan’s on the evening of October 19. Coincidentally, Gramma Jewel ran into her college roommate at Ryan’s… oh, yeah—lest I forget, Erica and I were treated to a wonderfully entertaining rendition of “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang. Gramma Jewel used her childhood nickname “Delta Jewel,” and Great Aunt Reesie used her nickname of “Reesie-Ree.” Cousin Jade joined in and called herself “Diamond Fly” (as a play on words to Casanova Fly). I know they’re gonna get me for this, but it really surprised me that Gramma Jewel and Great Aunt Reesie knew about ninety percent of the words. Whatever they didn’t know, they ad-libbed, but otherwise, it was a pretty good rendition.

By the way: This picture was taken over the weekend. I like to call it “Five Fabulous Foxy Females.” I’m pretty sure that Gramma Jewel will post the more pictures on her Facebook page.

Well, I had best get going, but before I do, I want to send my condolences to Mrs. Loretta Duncan; her dad passed away this past Sunday at the age of 73 years old. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family, Mrs. Duncan, and don’t worry—if I know my Grampa Clark, he’s requesting to live next door to your dad.

Until next time, everybody—love ya lots!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
