Happy Friday, Everybody!
And seeing as how today is Friday, y’all know what that means: It’s time for my very special exclusive “Freestyle Friday” blog post. Today, the topic is focused on this brand-new talk show that has everybody talking; the show is appropriately entitled Holla At’cha Girls!
Perhaps this is a little bias on my part—and I’ve already made peace with the fact that it is—but I love the fact that all four hostesses are Rust College graduates. I also adore the fact that these four foxy females are educated, down-to-earth, and most importantly, Christian women. In a world where role models are scarce, I appreciate the fact that Miss Kim, Miss Alicia, Miss Ivana, and Miss Danita—all of whom are married—epitomize the word “lady.” The very first time I saw their show, I was hooked. Most recently, they did a show where the topic was all about encouragement, but they took the topic to another level and asked this question: “What happens when the encourager is the one who needs encouragement?”
I would have loved to call in and talked to the ladies on this very topic, because there is someone in my life who unquestionably epitomizes encouragement—my Gramma Jewel. As long as I’ve been in the world (in other words, ever since I was born), I have always known my Gramma Jewel to do her best to encourage others, be they family, friend, or stranger. Gramma Jewel has always lent a listening ear, given a kind word, and her hugs and kisses are truly second to none. Heck, you can ask Becky Morgan about her experience with Gramma Jewel, and she’ll tell you all about how she has been inspired and encouraged by that dear sweet silver-haired lady. However, don’t get it twisted—Gramma Jewel has had moments where she’s needed a listening ear, a kind word, and a big hug and kiss of her own. I’ve always known her to be a tough cookie, but sometimes the toughest cookie will crumble just a little. Well, anyway: The ladies responded to the question by saying that the encourager should always look unto the hills from whence cometh their help, as per Psalm 121:1.
There was never a better answer to that question than the aforementioned.
Well, I guess I had better get going, but I want to say that it is certainly a wonderful feeling to see four fellow Rustites on television, and representing in a classy manner. Keep up the good work, ladies—and maybe one day I’ll get to holla at y’all!
Until next time, y’all take care.
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
