My First Throwback Thursday Blog Post

Hey, Everybody!

As usual, I have a very special blog post, and coincidentally, it’s also the very first time that I post a Throwback Thursday.

Some may ask: “Natasha, what’s up with that picture of your Cousin Candace with that big dude? Is that her boyfriend?”

If Cousin Candace had ten dollars for everytime she was asked that question, she’d no doubt be rich!

To answer that question: Cousin Candace took this picture some three years ago; she was fortunate enough to attend the OSW Homecoming 2010 event, alongside Gramma Jewel and the Douglases. That big dude is the former five-time OSW Heavyweight Champion, Chris “The Hammer” Walker.

By the way: OSW is an acronym for Ol’ Skool Wrestling.

We all have moments in our lives that we cherish more than others, and I’m sure that Cousin Candace was tickled pink-and-green when she got to live this particular moment in her life. I mean, to be in front row at a lively televised OSW event, to cheer on Big Chris as he defeated R.C. Longhorn for the richest prize in wrestling’s history, and then—my goodness gracious—I already know that Cousin Candace was tickled pink-and-green on account of the hug she received from the Big Ol’ Champ!

Oh, and of course, Cousin Candace got to do what so many wrestling fans dream about—she got to hold the OSW World Heavyweight Championship Belt! I remember her saying that the belt was awful heavy and left both a bruise and an imprint, but it was so worth it.

I remember watching OSW Homecoming from home; everytime they showed the front row, all I could see was Gramma Jewel, Cousin Candace, and the Douglases cheerin’ and clappin’ it up for all of the heroes, and giving the villains a hard time… well, that’s the half-truth, actually. I have it on good authority that my godbrother Howie was the only somebody in the arena who was cheering R.C. Longhorn while everyone else emphatically insisted on booing the Stetson-wearing corporate cowboy. I could only imagine how loud it was in the arena when Big Chris pinned Mr. Longhorn—I am aware the television didn’t do it justice—but I clearly remember the camera operator showing Gramma Jewel and Cousin Candace jumping up and down and hugging it out with the Douglases. I’m glad they had a lot of fun that day.

I will say this much, though: The next time the OSW has an event, I’m damn sure going! It is to my understanding that there’s another live television event coming out sometime in July. I don’t care who the champion is—I wantsta be there!

I’ll have a special Freestyle Friday blog post for y’all tomorrow, but until then, y’all take care and enjoy your day.

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
