A Gal Can't Ask For Anything More!

Good Monday Morning, Everybody!

I tell y’all—a gal couldn’t ask for anything more: I’m back home in Southern Cali, laying in my own bedroom, and not long finished watching the KTLA Morning News… that’s right, y’all! I’m still watching KTLA Morning News ever since last year. For those of you who don’t know, I used to watch Good Day L.A., but when I discovered that Jillian Reynolds and Dorothy Lucey left, so did I. Some of you may think I’m being picky, but y’all need to understand that it just ain’t the same without those two ladies. I’m quite certain that Steve Edwards still keeps in touch with them, though… okay, I will admit that this morning, I tried to watch at least fifteen minutes of Good Day L.A., just for the sake of Steve Edwards, and I wound up turning the channel anyway!

Yes, I know—I’m a tough nut to crack, but that’s who I am, and that’s what I do!

So, yesterday afternoon after church, we all went over to my Gramma Jewel’s house for dinner, and as usual, we had a grand ol’ time. Shoot, even Mother Davis and Bro. Hawkins showed up to celebrate; I don’t know why that’s so surprising to me, considering that they’re Gramma Jewel’s closest friends, but I digress. Anyway, we had so much fun yesterday, just being in each other’s company. Lemme tell y’all: My family is cuckoo-crazy (and that means that I am too), but that’s what makes them so special. At one point, Gramma Jewel broke out singing the theme song to Full House, and we all joined in: “Everywhere you look, everywhere… there’s a heart (there’s a heart), a hand to hold on to…” Of course, we had a serious moment, such as when Gramma Jewel mentioned that Cousin Matthew and Cousin Trisha would be graduating in April 2014, and also how she was proud of Cousin Erica for continuing with the legacy which Grampa Clark began at Fisk University.

And of course, in speaking about Grampa Clark, we talked about the upcoming Sapp Elementary Hall of Fame ceremony that is set to take place this Saturday, December 21, at the Marina Del Rey Marriott. Uncle Anthony mentioned that he is still working on his acceptance speech for when he accepts the award on Grampa Clark’s behalf, but he knows that he’s gonna talk about how Grampa Clark never stopped teaching because he never stopped learning. Uncle Anthony also stated that he didn’t even let Auntie Stephanie review his acceptance speech because he doesn’t want to sound rehearsed on the day of the ceremony, but Gramma Jewel gave the assurance that Uncle Anthony would do a helluva damn good job on account of—and these were her exact words—“you are your daddy’s son.”

I don’t think I need to tell y’all that we’re all gonna be there en masse to see this grand ceremony, do I?

Well, y’all—it’s time for me to hang it up and close today’s blog post. Lest I forget, though, I want to give a personal shout-out to Great Aunt Reesie, Cousin Jade, Cousin Keith, and Cousin Erica. I trust that their Christmas vacation in Southern Cali is gonna be one that they’ll forever remember. For some reason, I feel that Christmas 2013 is gonna be so special to me as well.

Until tomorrow, y’all take care, and take it light.

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
