Today is April 1, 2013, and y’all know what that means: It’s a very special blog—it's the first blog of April 2013, if you will.
Today is a very special day because my great grandmother, Lynn Agnes Coleman, was born on this very day in 1906. She would’ve been 107 years old if she were still alive. I think I mentioned this once before, but everytime she lived to see another birthday, she would say: “I find it ironic that someone as bright and intelligent as I, would be born on a day designed for fools.”
For those of you who haven’t yet figured out that I dance to the beat of my own drum, y’all just don’t know Natasha Renee Stewart!
Anyway, I had a good weekend with my Auntie Gladys, and I am looking forward to visiting with her again—particularly in the very near future. Auntie Gladys brought me back on the campus at 9:30pm CST last night, and I had the dorm room all to myself. I knew it was Ruby’s birthday yesterday, so I figured that she would have been with her family all day yesterday. It was really different having the room by myself, and I kinda enjoyed it. Oh, yeah: When I got in last night, I called Mom and Dad, and they told me all about the big Easter dinner that Uncle Gregory and Auntie Glo hosted after church yesterday. I sure hate that I missed it, but Auntie Donna more than made up for it… and y’all know that I took some plates with me!
Well, if you want to know why I’m writing such an early blog, let me tell you why: You see, it’s also April Fools Day, and all of my professors and instructors played a good trick on me. All classes resume tomorrow as opposed to today. Y’all could imagine the look I had on my face when I walked into Physical Science, Grammar & Comp II, and Fundamentals of Speech, only to discover that I was the only somebody there. I shoulda known something was up, but it’s cool, because no one can deny my dedication. As a matter of fact, I left a note with each of my instructors and let them know that, despite the joke being on me, I was still willing to show up.
So, now that I have all the time to myself, I guess I’ll walk around the track for a while, then study my speech for tomorrow’s official class.
Until tomorrow, y’all…
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
