Seeing as how today is Friday, December 7, 2012, that means I have officially one week—seven whole days—until I make my return to the Golden State. Until such time comes, however, I have the whole weekend to relax. You see, Ruby is going home over the weekend, and she invited me to come along with her. I figured that I owe Mr. & Mrs. Hudspeth a visit since I couldn’t stay with them for Thanksgiving. Thank God that my high school English teacher isn’t around to hear this: I ain’t even thinkin’ about my final exams. As far as I’m concerned, this is the weekend where I can just chill and enjoy some more of that good Southern cookin’.
And much like that old song from the early 90s, I have made a quick return “back to life, back to reality.”
Whereas I want to enjoy my weekend with Ruby and her parents, my sixth sense is compelling me to bring along my notebooks. One can never be too cautious, don’tcha know. My Auntie Brenda always says to “caution before error.” Well, I don’t want to be caught out in the proverbial cold. I want to be on it, I need to be on it—I gotsta be on it!
My studying notwithstanding, I’m really excited to return to Mr. & Mrs. Hudspeth’s house. I haven’t seen them since Labor Day. You know, I could be wrong, but it sounded like they were excited to learn that I was taggin’ along with Ruby. To tell y’all the truth, the whole thing was providentially planned: I was thinking about paying a visit to the Hudspeths before I returned to L.A. next week, and Ruby convinced me to come along with her for the weekend. At the same time, Mr. & Mrs. Hudspeth had called and said that they were thinking about me. What can I say—God works in mysterious ways.
Well, y’all, I’m all packed up for a weekend with the Hudspeths. As soon as our Intro to Computers class is finished, Ruby and I are headin’ on the road to Olive Branch, Mississippi . This is like, my third road trip since my Rust debut—I feel like such a tourist… hahaha!
With that said, if y’all don’t hear from me this weekend, that means I’m havin’ hella fun, don’tcha know! But hey—y’all have a good weekend, and keep me in your prayers; my finals are on December 13.
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
