Notwithstanding my research paper that’s due this Friday, I just found out this afternoon in my Fundamentals of Speech that my next assignment is to talk about three of my weaknesses. Much like my research paper in my Grammar & Comp II class, this speech assignment is also due on Friday.
Let me tell you what’s amazing to me: I’ve been brainstorming ideas for my research paper since Sunday evening, and I haven’t found an interesting topic. However, I’ve already written out my next speech assignment in my head; as a matter of fact, I’ve written my ideas out on paper, even as of this blog posting.
Considering that I excel in English (and that’s not being a braggart—I love English), I don’t understand why I can’t find a good enough topic to begin my research paper. I mean, let’s face it: I can only write so much about my family, but this is a research paper. Whatever topic I choose must grab the reader’s attention, and also show my professor that I did in fact do my research. What is a Cali girl to write about? I am really drawing a blank here…
DING-DING-DING!!!
A lightbulb just went off in my head! I just mentioned that I am a Cali girl—why not write about my hometown? And I just remembered that I wrote a similar assignment in my Grammar & Comp I class just last semester. Amazingly enough, I can use myself as a reference… in the famous words of the late William “Paul Bearer” Moody: OHHHHHHHHHH, YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
Well, I’ll holla at y’all tomorrow—I can officially get started on my research paper.
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
