I wanna tell y’all: I am thoroughly enjoying my Fundamentals of Speech class! Yes, I know—it’s only been Day #4, but what can I say? This class is most definitely for me!
As you may well know, my instructor gave us our first assignment that involved introducing ourselves to the class. Well, the assignment was due on yesterday afternoon, and in true Natasha fashion, I drove myself batty these past couple of days trying to write the “perfect” introductory speech. I’m sure you could imagine my surprise and disappointment when I didn’t get chosen to give my introductory speech on yesterday, but as it turned out, not being chosen was a blessing in disguise.
After listening to the speeches from some of my fellow classmates yesterday, I took that as an opportunity to work more on my own speech. Listen, those speeches were fantastic; they each held my attention, and not one time did I drift off or daydream. And on a personal note, the best speech given yesterday was Neo Theo’s—I’m just sayin’!
Anyway, after two days of tweaking my speech, yesterday was my time to shine. Ironically enough, I was the last on the totem pole, to which Theo said that our instructor saved the best for last. For one thing, when giving a speech, I have to dress the part… and believe me when I tell y’all: I was lookin’ my damn bestest! I had on my royal blue dress suit with matching shoes and earrings. I don’t mess around when it comes to dressin’.
Now, I was a little nervous at first, but once I got to talking about my love for Cali and my Gramma Jewel, I could feel that confidence growing, and I realized that the audience (my classmates) hung to my every word. I just want to know one thing: Why did they start laughing when I mentioned that Rust College will forever remember me as Vipress?
For tomorrow’s speech assignment, I have to bring three items to the class and explain how they define my character. I already have my personalized family photo album and my Share Bear Care Bear, which was given to me by my sweetie pie Ray, but I’m in a bit of an internal debate on that third item. Should I bring along my favorite peach dress or my lilac perfume? Then again, I could also be a big cornball and say that the third item is my smile—that’s a typical Natasha Stewart answer… hahaha!
Well, anyway, I have to go; besides, I need time to think about these three items that I'm gonna bring to my speech class tomorrow.
Until tomorrow, y’all!
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
