So, here it is—a beautiful, cloudy Tuesday morning, June 4, 2013, and I’m watching KTLA Morning News… that’s right, I kept my promise from this past Christmas!
For those of you who forgot, I invite your attention to my blog entitled “Some Things Just Ain't The Same No Mo'!” It was in that blog where I mentioned that I would no longer be watching Good Day, L.A. on account of Dorothy Lucey and Jillian Reynolds left, probably around the time I left in August. Anyway, I had made a statement that, since Dorothy and Jillian broke camp, I would move on over to KTLA Channel 5—and as y’all can see, I kept my promise.
Well, I did call my sweetie pie Ray Hernandez yesterday evening, and he sounded excited upon hearing my voice. We talked until about 10:30pm PST last night, and of the many things that we mentioned, he challenged me to a bowling contest, best two out of three. I graciously accepted his challenge, warning him that he had best beware of my alter ego Vipress-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s. I jokingly told Ray that “she may s-s-s-strike at any given time—and I’m not talkin’ about the bowling pins, either!” Ray simply laughed, then he told me how he met my Cousin Calvin during the commencement at Cal State Long Beach just two weeks ago. I still believe that to be a funny coincidence, but it’s also cool that my sweetie pie met my CSULB cousin.
Well, ain’t much that I’m doing today. Mom and Dad just went to work about an hour ago and left me in the house all by myself. I guess I’ll watch some television… oh, that’s right! Antenna TV is giving a 12-hour tribute to Jean Stapleton, who played the lovable Edith Bunker on All in the Family (y’all keep forgetting that I’m a big nostalgia buff). Anyway, Ms. Stapleton passed away on May 31, but the news didn’t break until my return to Cali on Saturday morning. We were talking about it during my “Welcome Back” party, and we all agreed that the closest Edith Bunker in our family is Auntie Gloria—she’s always smiling, she believes in giving the benefit of the doubt, and she’s just as sweet as she can be. Auntie Gloria graciously accepted the compliment, but emphatically made it clear that she is not now, nor will she ever be, a dingbat.
Okay, y’all—I’m runnin’ outta stuff to talk about, so I’m gonna close this blog and call it a day. Before I do that, though, I just want to say one thing: Rust College has spoiled me tremendously. If I was back at Rust, I’d have plenty to do. It seems as though now that I’m back home, I’m stuck within these four walls. I’m glad to be home and all, but a sista’s gotsta be free! Someone hear my cry and rescue me… hahaha! But seriously, I don’t wanna be cooped up in the house all day. I reckon I’ll go outside and walk around in the backyard. Actually, I can work some more on my summer itinerary, especially seeing as how I’m back home.
Break out your umbrellas, everybody—I’m sensing a brainstorm on the horizon!
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
