Happy Thursday, Good People!
I thought I was gonna have time to post another blog yesterday evening, but I was some kinda busy all day, and when I got home, I just went straight to bed and went to sleep. For the first time that I can recall, I didn’t turn on no radio or no television—I just went straight to bed. Yes, I was that tired. Y’all forget: I did get up like around the crack-a-dawn yesterday morning, plus I made breakfast for my mom and dad, and I did some housecleaning… and all of that was in the morning, mind you!
But today is a brand-new day, and despite all of the hell that is going on in the world, I will continue to remain the opportunistic, optimistic bright-eyed snakewoman… hahahaha!
So, I had a wonderful time with one Ray Hernandez yesterday afternoon; all we did was kick it at the mall, then he treated me to Chili’s. And look, y’all: Ray did not choose the “two for twenty” deal—he told me that I could order whatever I wanted because he was not cheap. I was very flattered, but I reminded him that I am not one of those materialistic chicks. He could’ve ordered the “two for twenty” deal; it wouldn’t have bothered me one iota. Hell, I would’ve been satisfied had he taken me to Burger King—and that’s real talk!
But anyway, after we left Chili’s, we did like Jill Scott and took a long walk around the park—until around 6pm, anyway. In the midst of our walk around the park, Ray said something very interesting; he made mention that while he was grateful that we were taking our relationship to—here comes the phrase that pays—a whole nutha level, he didn’t want to refer to me as his girlfriend. He explained that the terms “boyfriend and girlfriend” are ridiculously overused, and he sees me as so much more than just a title. It’s funny that Ray would tell me that, because quiet as it’s kept, I feel silly referring to him as my boyfriend. I actually told Ray that I feel more comfortable calling him my sweetie pie, and y’all shoulda seen his face when I told him that. He hugs me tightly and says: “Hell, I’m all for it!”
And with that said, we shared another sweet kiss.
So, as it stands, we are still a couple, but without all those damn titles. I guess this is what Gramma Jewel was talking about the other day when she said—and I quote: “Back when I was your age, Baby, wasn’t no such thang as boyfriend and girlfriend. If a man was interested in a woman, he would woo her. And what y’all refer to as dating, it was known as courtin’ when I was growin’ up.”
I think Gramma Jewel should write a book on life and love… I’m just sayin’!
Well, speaking of Gramma Jewel, she and Becky are gonna pick me up around 12:30pm this afternoon—the girls are gonna go kickin’ it. As an added bonus, Ms. Thelma (Mother Davis, if you will) is comin’ along with us. With that said, let me get the rest of this housework done so I can get ready to kick it with my peeps, and hopefully I’ll holla at y’all later on this evening.
Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
