Back to Class, Tho!

Happy Monday, Y’all!

So, here it is, another day at Rust College. I’m done with my classes—well, I’ve got my Foundations of Education class this evening at 6pm CST, but other than that, I’m done with my first three classes.

Speaking of classes, y’all know I had to turn in a three-to-four page paper in my Biblical Studies class this morning; I think I mentioned it in Friday’s blog, but I wrote about Abraham. I had actually written six and a half pages on Abraham and how God chose him to be the father of many nations. I also used examples and compared Abraham’s life to mine. Granted, I’m only nineteen years old and I am not even an auntie, let alone a mother, but I used some great examples of faith in action. I hope my instructor likes my paper because I made sure that I put a lot of my heart and soul in it.

And as far as my PRAX I Seminar class, it doesn’t sound too difficult, especially after re-reading the description of said class. Check this out: According to Page 91 of my Rust College catalog, the PRAX I Seminar class is “designed to diagnose student strengths and weaknesses in reading, mathematics, and writing (grammar and essay) and to plan individualized as well as group instruction to prepare students to pass the Praxis 1 exam, the Pre Professional Skills Test.” It sounds to me that this is more of a preparation course to take a teaching exam. Perhaps it’s known as the PRAXIS out here in the Sip, but there’s a similar test in California; it’s known as the California Basic Educational Skills Test, or C-BEST for short. I’m gonna learn all I can about this here PRAXIS, but if it’s anything like the C-BEST, then I should be alright.

And then there’s my Spanish I class. Now, I realize that it’s only Day #3 of classes, but I want you all to know that: Yo estoy haciendo bastante bien hasta ahora. In case you missed what I said, I basically said that I’m doing quite well so far. I also learned how to hold a conversation en español, but then again, I took Spanish for three years in high school, so I don’t know why I’m acting so surprised. As a matter of fact, my instructor said that I am quite well versed in the class; as a matter of fact, her exact words were: “Natasha, eres tan bien versado en esta clase que yo te debería darte un A-plus ahora, pero quiero que lo gana.”

And because I understood what she said, I simply responded: “Awwwwww, muchas gracias, Señora.”

Well, now we await my Foundations of Education class—that’s just in about two hours or so. I guess I had better rest up a little bit, then head to dinner at the cafeteria. Once again, I am soliciting your prayers and well-wishes, more so for a successful first module than a first semester. As Jordin Sparks sang in a song some five years ago: Take it one step at a time—there’s no need to rush; it’s gonna happen when it’s supposed to happen.

With that said, I’ll holla at y’all tomorrow. Peace Out!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
