Business Has Picked Up in Bearcat Country!

Well, it goes without saying, but I’m gonna say it anyway:

I’M BACK, BABY—AND NOT A MOMENT TOO SOON!!!

That’s right—I am officially back up on the campus of Rust College, and business has officially picked up! They think it’s a game, they also think that Vipress has crawled away in her den… they are so wrong, and it can’t get no more “wronger.” Now that I’m back in Bearcat Country, I’m ready to kick this thing off right. In the famous words of Dolph Ziggler: I’m here to show the world, so bring it on!

My plane arrived in Memphis, Tennessee at 7:30am CST this morning, and as soon as I stepped off the plane, I felt that warm humidity, and I started thanking God that I packed my sundresses… hahaha!  Anyway, I located my luggage and stepped outside, where I sat down and waited for Gramma Jewel’s college roommate and my Auntie Gladys. I didn’t have to wait too long, though; as I was looking around and thinking about the wonderful memories that I had made back home, I spotted Auntie Gladys’ black Toyota Corolla from a distance. I gotta admit it, y’all—I was such a chatterbox, but Auntie Gladys didn’t seem to mind; as a matter of fact, she encouraged it, given that it would take about an hour to get to Rust. Once she dropped me off, I gave her fifty dollars for gas money. In turn, Auntie Gladys gave me a kiss on the cheek, then she gave me twenty dollars back and a grocery bag filled with all kinds of food.

Goodheartedness still produces goodheartedness, y’all!

Now, check this out: Seeing as how I am a sophomore, I am now staying in Emma Elzy Hall—and no sooner than I stepped inside to find a dorm room that I heard a familiar voice call out: “Aw, look out—if it ain’t the California Vipress!”

When I turned around and saw my girl Ruby, I hugged her like I hadn’t seen her in years! After the brief little reunion, we got a dorm room and put our bags up. We did some unpacking, but not a whole lot, because we needed to head to the auditorium and get registered for our classes. Neither Ruby nor I saw Neo Theo, and we combed through that auditorium with a fine-toothed comb. Either we had missed him, or he hadn’t arrived yet. Anyway, after we had gotten registered, we went back to our dorm and started our decorating. As usual, Ruby threw a couple of jokes my way, asking me about my future husband and later questioning if I brought Southern Cali with me.

Later on in the day, we were in that rather long line for dinner, and we heard some dude yell out: “I know that ain’t none of Ruby Red and Tasha Renee!”

Yep, it was none other than our big brother Neo Theo!

As usual, we shared a big ol’ group hug, and much like I knew would happen, we were all trying to outtalk one another, to see who had the best summer vacation. We finally agreed that we all had a pretty memorable summer, but according to Ruby and Theo, I get extra points because I have my summer vacation on video. One day we’re gonna set up the VCR/DVD player in the lobby and I’m gonna share the video with my peeps.

Well, that’s all for right now. I certainly am glad to be back in the Sip, considering it is hot as hell out here. Then again, the deacons at my church say that these heatwaves ain’t nothin’ compared to life in eternal hell! Nevertheless, I am once again thanking God that I packed my sundresses and shorts. I wish I had bought a sunhat, but it’s all good.

Okay, I gotta get going—I’ve still got some dorm decorating to do, and then I gotta make some more calls back home in Cali, as well as some calls out this way. Y’all already know that I gotta call Great Aunt Donna, Great Aunt Reesie, Cousin Jade, and Cousin Erica… and I cannot forget Cousin Keith!

Until tomorrow, y’all take care… Smooches!

Hugs & Kisses,
Natasha
